EDIT: I placed 5th overall in the contest. I'm very proud of placing as high as I did. The winners are all fantastic. Here is the link to the winners: [link] . Congratulations everyone! ____________________________________________________________________________________
I decided to recreate Periwinkle from the Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow series as a pony: [link][link]
This plush took forever to make! Look at all the details!
At first, I had no idea who or what to make for this contest. But while I as debating my inner “girly-girl” (I’m a tomboy by the way) appeared and demanded that I make something covered in sparkles! At first I resisted this urge, but I finally gave in. I then realized that most characters I like are not sparkly, or overly pretty. So I had to find a character to create.
After some searching I found Periwinkle (who has a beautiful design). She is a frost fairy (both snow and fairies are sparkly), and Tinkerbell’s twin sister. I watched the movie to find good reference images, and the movie was ok. Not my favorite, but not bad either. Periwinkle is adorable though!
Anyway, many hours of hard work later Periwinkle Pony is born. She is 12" tall (including the mane). All the sequins and beads are handsewn into place. The mane and tail are very carefully styled (it is so difficult to make spikes). The wings are very delicate so I made them removable. There is a wire clip on the back of each wing that attaches to her dress for when she wears them.
This is the most challenging pony I’ve made to date! But I’m so proud of how she turned out.
